This time I&#8217;m upping it to 10 with a few bubbling under and some added tidbits.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2968\" title=\"Derek Trucks Band Already Free\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Derek-Trucks-Band-Already-Free.jpg?resize=240%2C240\" alt=\"Derek Trucks Band Already Free\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Derek-Trucks-Band-Already-Free.jpg?w=240&amp;ssl=1 240w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Derek-Trucks-Band-Already-Free.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>1. Already Free, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/?p=360\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Derek Trucks Band<\/a>: <\/strong>Traditional blues with modern sensibilities and influences from jazz, roots and world music, all&nbsp;played by an array of accomplished musicians&nbsp;and one of the best slide players of our time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/?p=2726\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Deep End<\/a>, Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez: <\/strong>Stellar songwriting, impassioned vocals and infectious grooves highlight Ohlman&#8217;s fifth album, which also features an impressive roster of guests. Her best yet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/?p=2029\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Electric Dirt<\/a>, Levon Helm: <\/strong>On this electrified followup to his comeback album Dirt Farmer, Helm blends traditional roots music with elements of folk, blues, soul and gospel. The mix of new original material and classic covers works perfectly. The&nbsp;arrangements are clean and to the point and musicianship impeccable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>4. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/?p=591\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Middle Cyclone<\/a>, Neko Case: <\/strong>A wonderful concoction of folk, rock, country and pop interlaced with enigmatic lyrics and penetrating melodies. All topped with Case&#8217;s crystal clear voice.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2698\" title=\"bebel-gilberto-all-in-one\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/bebel-gilberto-all-in-one.jpg?resize=240%2C240\" alt=\"bebel-gilberto-all-in-one\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/bebel-gilberto-all-in-one.jpg?w=240&amp;ssl=1 240w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/bebel-gilberto-all-in-one.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>5. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/?p=2695\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All In One<\/a>, Bebel Gilberto: <\/strong>Her best since Tanta Tempo in 2000, this work is alive with beautiful songwriting and Gilberto&#8217;s gorgeous, hushed, cool vocals. Aided by her pals Carlhinos Brown and Didi Gutman among others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Soul On Ten, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/?p=2274\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robben Ford<\/a>: <\/strong>A ripping, rocking live set with two live-in-the-studio cuts, filled with Ford&#8217;s interesting blues-based originals,&nbsp;some classic covers and his unique take on blues, rock and jazz playing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/?p=2638\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The List<\/a>, Rosanne Cash: <\/strong>A love letter to her father Johnny and her audience, giving back songs from his list of 100 that he gave to his teen-age daughter. Arrangements&nbsp;and execution by Cash and husband John Levanthal are enthralling.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>8. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrickismusic.com\/?p=2395\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Horehound<\/a>, The Dead Weather: <\/strong>Jack White emerges with yet another project that looks like it will stick for a while.
